Up Close 01

This is from I think the first painting I did in January 2013. The painting is of a beach rose bush (with dark red berries) at the edge of a swollen tidal marsh. I spotted this shadow figure (blackish mass in the right hand side foreground) in a series of close ups I took of the bracken in the foreground. It looked to me like a villain out of a Scooby Doo cartoon, but then my friend Maura pointed out it looks just like Miss Clavell from the Madeline books.
